Welcome to Maranatha Academy.
At Maranatha Academy, we believe that education is about much more than preparing students for examinations. It is about preparing young people for life. Our aim is to provide an environment where students can grow academically, spiritually, socially and personally, developing the knowledge, character, confidence and values they need to navigate life with purpose.
Our school is built on four pillars: Submission, Self-worth, Servanthood and Stewardship. These pillars shape the way we teach, lead and relate to one another. We encourage our students to understand that true growth begins with humility and a willingness to learn; that they should recognise their God-given worth and the worth of others; that leadership is expressed through serving others; and that we are all called to be responsible stewards of the opportunities, talents and resources entrusted to us.
Life at Maranatha is active, purposeful and community-centred. Our students learn in the classroom, but they also learn through relationships, sport, leadership, service, creativity, teamwork and the responsibilities that come with being part of a school community. We want our learners to ask questions, think independently, work hard, take responsibility for their choices and develop the confidence to use their abilities well.
Our teachers play an important role in this journey. We seek to create classrooms where curiosity is welcomed, effort is recognised and students are challenged to reach their potential. Whether following the Cambridge IGCSE or the Malawi national curriculum, our focus remains on providing a strong academic foundation while helping each learner develop the discipline and resilience needed to succeed beyond school.
Boarding is also an important part of life at Maranatha. With approximately 60% of our students living on campus, our boarding community is an integral part of the Maranatha experience. For many of our students, school is not simply where they attend lessons during the day; it is where they live, learn, build friendships and develop greater independence. Our boarding environment provides opportunities for students to learn responsibility, consideration for others, time management and the everyday habits that help prepare them for life beyond school. We seek to make boarding feel like a community where students are known, supported and encouraged to grow.
Ultimately, we want every student who passes through Maranatha to leave with more than good examination results. We want them to leave with character, confidence, competence and a sense of responsibility. We want them to understand their worth, recognise their responsibilities to others and be prepared to make a meaningful contribution wherever life takes them.
We are grateful to the parents and guardians who entrust their children to us. Education works best when school and home work together, and we value that partnership deeply.
I invite you to explore our website and discover more about the Maranatha experience. Better still, come and visit us. Meet our students and teachers, experience our community and see for yourself what it means to be part of Maranatha Academy, Home of Academic Excellence & Character.
